WebA Short History of the South Nottinghamshire Hussars Yeomanry The Yeomanry was raised in 1794 to help maintain Law and Order at a time when Revolutionary France, with it’s egalitarian ideals, threatened the security of an England governed by landed gentry in an age of industrial and political ferment, and having no police force. In June 1940, it was redesignated as the 150th (South Nottinghamshire Hussars Yeomanry) Field Regiment RA. A third battery, the 514th, was formed in January 1941.
